TEMECULA, CA — It began with an idea. What if we could promote not just great soccer and youth sports in the Temecula Valley, but shine the light on charity where it hits home — to teams across the southwestern United States?
That idea has grown into the Temecula United Charity Cup, an annual soccer tournament that shares both love of the beautiful game of soccer and the heart of the cities in which we all live.
The Temecula United Soccer Club is seeking partner businesses for the prestigious, Temecula United Charity Cup Soccer Tournament now in its third year.
Held annually at Galway Downs Soccer Complex, this is an exceptional opportunity for local Temecula businesses and corporations to get involved with visitors from across Southern California and the southwestern United States.
“The Temecula United Charity Cup donated over $5,000 to both local and national charity organizations in its first year,” Temecula United president Mike Richards said. “By supporting this venture, businesses can enjoy exposure by the thousands who visit our city over the last weekend in June as well as showcase their support of charitable organizations in the valley.”
A non-profit 501(c)3 organization in its own right, Temecula United Soccer Club developed the Temecula United Charity Cup as a way of highlighting local charities in the Temecula Valley. Charities such as the Our Nicholas Foundation for Autism, Michelle’s Place Breast Cancer Resource Center, Rancho Damacitas benefitted from the winning brackets in 2017, as did St. Jude’s Hospital, Rady’s Children’s Hospital of San Diego, St. Baldrick’s Foundation for Cancer Research, and more.
In 2018, they looked forward to continuing that tradition. Winning coaches were able to submit charities of choice through August 15, with charitable donation announcements to follow.
“We are excited to broaden the reach of the charities we can support, and enjoy learning about non-profits from our visiting teams,” Richards said. Sponsors can support Temecula United Soccer Club’s Charity Cup in a variety of different ways:
Plans for next year’s tournament include Sponsoring a field For Charity; Feather Flags For Charity; Attend and tell visiting teams about your charity by sponsoring a booth; Temecula United Charity Cup Dinner/Fundraiser/Silent Auction; submitting items for Silent Auction Baskets.
